As a charming spot to spend your leisure time, it really is hard to beat a summerhouse. Adorned with a table and chairs, you have the perfect dining space for two. With the double doors open, you can spill out into your garden on those extra sunny days, and time after time we hear how our customers have really increased their enjoyment of the outdoors with a summerhouse.  Alternatively, many find that the Lumley is a perfect place for their hobbies. It could easily become a stylish and inspiring art studio or simply a quiet nook for your book collection in which you could relax and read the latest page turner. However you decide to make the most of your summerhouse, you can enjoy the best that the outdoors has to offer in considerable style with the Lumley.

Why Others Tell us they Love the Lumley

Lovers of a traditional summerhouse look are often drawn to the Lumley. With its elegant Georgian style windows, you are given a classic feel that so many of our customers love. Its slightly overhanging roof is another eye-catching feature, adding extra charm to the summerhouse as well as a handy little bit of shelter or shade. The generous roof height and the glazed double doors provide an interior that feels airy and open, ensuring that spending your time relaxing in the Lumley is a real pleasure. It is also hard to beat the attractive timber finish of a wooden garden building and there is no doubt you will notice the quality of your summerhouse as soon as you step inside. Our customers often like to add their own personal touch by painting their summerhouses and they look fantastic in any colour. Shire recommends that you use Protek paint, available from elbec in a wide variety of colours. By using Protek Royal Exterior, you can make the Lumley look exactly how you want it while adding extra protection to the timber.

Features

Shire products are known for their quality, and the Lumley is no exception. The walls of the Lumley Summerhouse are constructed from 12mm thick, shiplap tongue and groove cladding. This gives you a strong, sturdy building with an interior that is nicely weather resistant and protected from the elements. Plus, the Lumley has a stand out feature in its 12mm thick tongue and groove floor, a high quality specification you will struggle to find on alternative summerhouses in this price bracket. This also ensures a high load capacity, meaning you can adorn your summerhouse with the furniture of your choice without worrying if the floor will be up to the task. Robust 34mm x 34mm framing adds to the sturdiness of the summerhouse and supports an 8mm oriented strand board (OSB) roof that makes sure the interior is well protected. Mineral felt is also included for extra weather resistance and protection against damp and rot. This is all protected by a 10 year anti-rot guarantee, so you can purchase your summerhouse in the knowledge you will be buying a high quality garden building that will last. Featuring wide opening double doors with high quality joinery that are glazed 3mm horticultural glass, you have a summerhouse package that is sure to impress for a price that will not break the bank. We’re pleased to offer the option of booking our dedicated professionals who will assemble your summerhouse quickly and correctly. However, you can choose to use the comprehensive instructions included with the summerhouse and construct it yourself.

About the Timber

You will be impressed by Shire’s use of natural products and their environmental credentials. A high quality timber summerhouse starts with high quality timber, so it is important to know exactly what timber is being used. The most commonly used timber for garden buildings is pine (pinus) as this is widely available for a very cheap price, however all of Shire’s garden buildings are constructed using high quality spruce (picea) and is sourced from Siberia and Scandinavia under strict FSC guidance. Spruce is more durable than pine and provides a higher quality finish. This timber is slow grown unlike fast grown British and Eastern Europe’s timber, being slow grown timber means a tighter grain, less sap and with far fewer knots. The timber used on Shire’s products is therefore a more durable timber that will last much longer than other timbers. Spruce is therefore the timber of choice for companies such as Shire who always look to produce the best garden building.

Anti-Rot Guarantee

All of the wooden garden buildings at Timberdise come with an anti-rot guarantee for peace of mind that your new garden building will be around long after we have supplied it. All buildings come with a 10 year anti-rot guarantee apart from the pressure treated range as these come with a 15 year anti-rot guarantee.

Most of the wooden garden buildings we supply come with a pre-coat of treatment that we like to call transportation protection. This protects the buildings from the elements as we deliver them to you and also gives you a small period of time from installation to actually getting the building treated yourself so that the building is not exposed during this crucial stage of its life (this does not include log cabins and garden rooms). Log cabins and garden rooms come without any treatment so make sure you treat these buildings within the first week of them being installed.

We at Timberdise will always advise you to treat your new wooden garden building as soon as you possibly can and ask that you continue to treat the building at least every 12 months there after. This is to ensure you get the maximum life span out of the building and prevent any premature rotting. We also advise you that to keep your guarantee valid you do have to treat both inside and outside of the buildings as most buildings don’t come with any damp protection.

Please have a look at the aftercare details we have available on this site by clicking here Aftercare for Sheds, Summerhouses & Playhouses and Aftercare for Log Cabins for further information.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
